Behavioral Health Research and Outreach Support
Promoting awareness, early identification, and treatment of stress disorders
Overview
The physical and emotional stress of deployment can have an unimaginable impact on the mental health of active duty personnel, veterans, and their families. Coping mechanisms may include alcohol and substance abuse or in the worst case, suicide. Leidos offers an array of services designed to mitigate the effects of stress disorders and enhance quality of life, bolster mission readiness, and support the services' retention goals.
Leidos provides a team of doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, epidemiologists, and scientists who are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of servicemen and women and their families.
Analyzing Effects of Combat and Operational Stress
We conduct research on post-traumatic stress disorders and traumatic brain injuries to identify potential treatments and improve outcomes. Leidos promotes resiliency through training and education to help active duty personnel and their families cope with stress before, during, and after deployment. We educate physicians and healthcare professionals on how to recognize the signs of behavioral health disorders and have helped to introduce alternative medicine therapies such as acupuncture. Leidos health promotion experts also support efforts to reduce the stigma of seeking help for behavioral health issues.
Substance Abuse Counseling for Youth
For active duty soldiers and their families stationed overseas, Leidos delivers a comprehensive, community-based program for adolescents to educate them on the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse. Services include prevention and education, identification and referral, and outpatient substance abuse treatment. This helps to bolster mission readiness, strengthen family life, and reduce early returns and costly international and community incidents.
International Employee Assistance Program
Leidos works with corporations and the U.S. government to optimize the productivity and retention of employees stationed abroad. Through our international employee assistance program, we provide services and devise strategies that help employers reduce workplace stress and improve the overall quality of life for expatriate workers.
